“The Korean company will build the garbage-fired power plant with its own technology. YCDC will be responsible for providing the expenditures to build the plant. The power output will be just running of the plant. The garbage in the downtown areas will be cleared, but the cost of waste collection and removal service will be high,” said a YCDC official.
The company is already generating electricity at Htein Pin waste site in Hlinethaya Township and local company Zeya and Association at Dawei Chaung waste site in North Dagon Moythit.
The project aims to generate electricity from 800 tonnes of garbage at Htein Pin garbage pit with solar technology. By the final phase, the project aims to produce eight megawatts of electricity per hour.
The offer comes just as YCDC announced that it was building a garbage-fired plant in Mingalardon Township next year.
Another joint-venture company plans to generate electricity at Dawei Chaung garbage pit under a two-year plan.
