No tickets to ride

Myanmar migrant workers returning to Thailand after celebrating Thingyan (Myanmar New Year) are facing problem buying bus tickets in Mae Sot.

"Though we agreed to pay higher bus fares, we can't find any ticket,’’ said one of the migrant workers who decided to return home.
Ticket fare for a one-way trip from Mae Sot to Bangkok has increased from Bt450 to Bt600.
It is estimated that over 1 million Myanmar migrants are working in Thailand.
In addition to mass migrant workers heading to Thailand, unlicenced cars ferrying back and forth on the Myawaddy-Mae Sot bridge in Tak province are causing heavy traffic jam. Most of the migrant workers had to wait in Myawaddy until getting tickets.
