Red shirts had a tinge of brown

Ref: "Shades of 1930s in intimidation", Letters, yesterday.

William Reynolds' chilling analogy of Hitler's policies after his (democratic) election and the present Thai government may sound a bit far fetched, but it was then and is now imperative to beware of the beginnings. From the first days of the red protests - "peaceful" as claimed yet again by the latest BBC sob story documentation - it occurred to me that the protesters' chosen shirt colour was misleading. It should have been brown. Nothing that happened after the last election has changed my views. The election is hailed as a victory of democracy, at least according to the BBC, which in their latest report once again ignored the vote-buying and the red-shirt bullying of the voters in the villages and the threats to Democrat campaigners in the Northeast as well as the fact that the lady in charge has openly been described by her fugitive puppet-master brother as his "clone".

If you then elevate terrorists from prison into Parliament or even into the cabinet you are clearly inviting trouble. Interesting times lie ahead for Thailand.
