I am appalled by the comment from the deputy prime minister stating that Thaksin's return is overdue. Does this mean that the Thai government is going to "right a wrong"? What will this mean for Thai society, especially to the younger generations? Does it mean that anyone can get away with the crimes they have instigated? These are the questions that Thais must ask themselves, because if they go ahead and let Thaksin off the hook, then it will demonstrate to the world that there are groups of people who are above the law. The law cannot be made to work for certain people.
The group of people who think Thaksin did not get a fair trail should insist that he return home to fight for what is correct, especially now that he has an inside influence. Only then will Thaksin be able to walk in society with his head up high.
