PM needs to show leadership qualities

But tensions among Bangkok residents have been unnecessarily aggravated by the ineptitude of the government.
First, there was Science and Technology Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi, who was supposed to know more than others about floods, telling people in northern Bangkok to evacuate “immediately” – only to be discovered that that was a false alarm.
Second, the image of Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Kittiratt na Ranong, who hugged a foreign investor and “cried like a baby”, was greeted with befuddlement rather than sympathy: Was the Thai government really prepared for the inundation in Ayutthaya?
Hence, PM Yingluck must prove she is capable of leading. She must tackle the confusing situation decisively and at the same time tell the lesser politicians to shut up and follow suit. Only then will people regain their confidence in the government.
