Bangkokians should share in the burden

After reading The Nation on the plane leaving from Bangkok, I just want to share my opinion about what is happening in Thailand now:

We keep hearing from TV and radio that government is doing everything to prevent water from going through Bangkok. Thousands of sandbags with sand dug up from Chonburi are used to keep the water out of Bangkok. Keep the water out of Bangkok? Does it mean that the water will stay in Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani longer? I just wonder why the government does not explain the reason for keeping Bangkok dry and let other cities be submerged. Is it because government buildings are in Bangkok or is it because the country will become bankrupt if Bangkok sinks? They seem to be because of economic reasons.
With those perspectives, I don’t think they are wrong, but we need some convincing statement from our government, as we need people to back up the effort to save Bangkok. Let’s ask people who live in Bangkok if they can have water on the road for a couple of days to relieve the suffering of Ayutthaya’s people who have to sleep on their roofs or on the crowded roadside. Have we ever asked people in Pathum Thani if they want those donated survival bags and free food or want the water out of their houses so they can live their normal lives? At this moment, I hope to see some leadership from our leader in addition to the great effort they are doing to save our country.
