It had nothing to do with the flood, of course – it came from an old magazine spread – but life enjoys imitating art, and now we have the real thing.
Supachai “A” Srivijit, who manages A-list celebrities like Nadet Komikuya and Mario Maurer, was pictured being evacuated from his deluged home perched in a pile of Hermes Berkin handbags.
Well, he loves the brand and is always toting one when he goes to the market. People know this, but folks on Facebook and Twitter are always snickering.
Why, for example, did his Berkins not have the proper coverall bags? Why didn’t A at least put them in plastic bags? How much would that boatload be worth, anyway?
“You can see the water’s only knee-deep,” someone said at Pantip.com. “Why not just keep them on the second floor of his house?”
An informed consensus was growing that Berkins without their cover bags look cheap, but then, of course, “If you put them in a bag, people don’t know they’re Hermes!”
Other grumbled that A’s boat could have been ferrying people to safety instead of handbags. “With his wealth,” someone said, “he could have hired a helicopter!”
It’s possible that there is actually a Hermes helicopter for customers caught in natural disasters.
Lady buoy ahoy!
Next viral flood photo: the mermaid. And almost as good was the one of a young lovely basking in the sun by her “private lake”.
A vote of thanks to the katoey who responded to a call from Missladyboy on Facebook to post funny pictures of themselves riding the waves.
“Thai katoey don’t make a fuss about flooding,” the instigator wrote. “Flooding, fire, earthquake or tsunami – no one ever found the dead body of a katoey!”
Five winning pictures will be chosen by popular “like” vote and the prize is a “flood-relief package for katoey”. Can’t wait to see what’s in it.
