9 great places to get happy any day of the week
Bangkok’s party scene remains in recovery mode, but there’s still a lot going on, especially when it comes to good vibes and good value. Following are some decent food-and-drink events worth checking out around town every day of the week.
SPORTSMAN
Other places have Ladies Nights on Wednesday or Thursday, but the Sportsman Pub and Restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 22 makes Fridays more fun for the fairer sex. From 8.30 till closing, women get a free glass of spirits or wine or a Spy cooler for every one they buy. And they also get to play pool for free!
Gents, don’t pout. You can have the pool table for free too, any day – but only between 11am and 4pm.
Happy Hour until 7pm offers pints of Tiger for Bt85, Heineken for Bt90, Carlsberg for Bt95 and Kilkenny for Bt150. A litre of 100 Pipers is Bt1,400, complete with mixers.

The neighbouring Dubliner Irish Pub has Wacky Wednesdays, when Guinness, Kilkenny, Magners, O’Hara’s Irish Stout and Pale Ale, Jameson, Baileys and Irish Coffee are all 10 per cent cheaper. Plus, after 8pm there’s live music from the old country courtesy of Error99.
On Thursdays a pint of Tiger costs Bt100 all evening, and on Fridays, Tiger and Tiger Crystal are Bt85 per small bottle. The English Premier League live matches on weekends are fuelled by Bt100 pints of Tiger and Heineken.

A great place to fill the tummy before a night out is Molly Malone’s Irish Pub on Convent Road off Silom, which serves generous portions of its “pub grub of the day” for Bt199. The selection includes cottage pie, fish & chips, beef stew and spaghetti, and a Chang draft is Bt100 every day, all night.

The BeerVault at the Four Points by Sheraton on Sukhumvit Soi 15 offers great value all week. This month the daily deals include buy-one-get-one-free during Happy Hour (5.30 to 9.30) and a Bt600 combo of one dish and one bucket of beer or bottle of wine.
Monday is Men’s Night with 35 per cent off imported beer and a pie for Bt150. On Saturday nights, the ladies get free gin and mixers. Fridays require surplus hunger and thirst for the succulent barbecue and free-flowing beer from 7.30 to 10.30, just Bt800.
While English Premier League matches are in progress every Saturday through Monday, you buy a bottle of British beer and get another one free.

The St Regis Bar at the St Regis Bangkok on Rajdamri Road has two-for-one martinis from 6 to 8 every Wednesday. Thursday is Ladies Night, with free Bellini for the girls from 6 to 9.

WINE PUB
The Wine Pub at Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel serves two burgers and a bottle of wine for Bt990 from 7.30 to 10.30pm every Friday. On Saturdays it’s a tapas buffet with wine or a platter of five cheeses and five cold cuts, all for the same price.
The last Monday of every month features a cheese class, where you can scarf back more top cheese and wine. It runs from 7 to 8.30pm and costs Bt99.
