I also don’t know who planted the six bombs in Bangkok at just the right moment to get caught, or who gave someone a passport, or even if someone has a passport, the manoeuvre being so obviously a fly-trap to catch anyone with lawyers provincial enough to sue. What I do know is that this whole end-game is: (a) not good for Thailand and (b) has nothing whatever to do with the poor – not ordered by the poor, not paid for by the poor, and indeed of no benefit to anybody without enough money to be in on the deal.
What’s obvious as well is that all these events have been professionally stage-managed by really big players for purposes only those who are paying the bills could imagine – the demonstrators and plumbers on the streets are just workers on the shop-floor, so to speak, and don’t know any more than the mules and foot-soldiers in other sorts of family businesses.
What the foreign lobbyists and lawyers actually do for Thailand I don’t know either – the really, really big guys being way over my head – whether they sleep well at night, are good parents, have any hope for us here or humanity, or even if they spend their holidays in Thailand.
What’s for sure is that no one pays millions of dollars to the likes of Sweeter Swops, Goddamn & Getoff, Barber, Spin & Launder, and Lobber & Lam without calculating the investment pretty carefully and feeling there’s a pretty good chance of not only success but a pretty good profit.
