We actually prefer our gossip a little less violent, thanks, but it was kind of cool last March when AD CARABAO showed that he’s not all love, peace and save-the-planet. Thanks to a little misunderstanding and a lot of booze, Mr Songs-for-Life ended up smashing his guitar on the stage at the Season Awards and stormed off.

NATHAN OMAN has staying power in the annual gossip digest, lying his way into the headlines in 2009 with a yarn about starring in a Hollywood blockbuster, lying his way into investors’ back accounts last year, and then this year failing to lie his way out of a prison sentence. 

But Nathan just got out of jail and vows to return to show business, so we’ll save a place here for him at the end of 2012.

BEN CHALALIT, meanwhile, just got out of the closet. The TV host was widely hailed as a “real man” in August when he said – so matter-of-factly that you had to love it – that he’s gay, has lived with the same guy for eight years and what’s the big deal?

Nongpanee Mahadthai was reborn as JA KAN HU after singing in a steamy YouTube video that she had itchy ears – in her crotch, apparently. The furiously controversial dance hit “Kan Hu” had everybody scratching, turned her band Turbo into stars and briefly threatened the popularity of TV’s “Woody Talk”.

Everybody say “Oh, dear” for singer-actress MARSHA WATANAPANICH, who split up with long-time boyfriend DJ KRIT SRIPOOMSETH, was photographed secretly smooching some foreigner and had to bravely, publicly (and eventually) admit to all of it. This year hurt, but she’ll be fine.

PARADORN SRICHAPHAN and NATALIE GLEBOVA also parted ways in 2011, ruining the great “love match” of Thai tennis. But the Wimbledon hero and the former Miss Universe broke up cheerfully enough with a well-organised press conference.

ARAYA “CHOMPOO” A HARGATE has found even greater fame as Reya on the Channel 3 soap opera “Dok Som Si Thong”, which is a major hit because it’s so immoral that you can’t take your offended eyes off it. The show comes with a warning label at the bottom of the screen, and women behaving badly can now expect to be called “Reya”. 

Nathan Oman got caught but SAVIKA “PINKY” CHAIYADEJ stayed on the run in 2011, chiefly from the crowded relationship she’d enjoyed with Peck Sanchai and fellow actress Tanya Tanyares and the “curiosity” it provoked. 

Pinky spent an inordinate amount of time working in India – until Peck and Tanya announced in May they were divorcing. Suddenly everyone remembered Pinky. Then everyone said she was expecting a baby. Not so, she replied, and showed the press the negative result of a pregnancy test.

You know, if these celebrities would just stop issuing denials, we wouldn’t have to keep making stuff up about them.
