Pe scores big by getting cute

Singer-actor Arak "Pe" Supamornsiri has bounced back nicely after the bummer of breaking up with girlfriend Kemmanij "Pancake" Jamikorn.

His new solo-debut single – his first record since leaving the band Slur – has become a YouTube hit, with more than 200,000 views in a matter of days.
Pe’s pretty excited, checking the viewer count every day when he wakes up (you would too).
Of course, it probably helps that the song is tited “Shisuka”, after the main character in the mega-popular Japanese comic Doraemon. “I used it because everyone knows it, and Thais know [comic co-star] Nobita too,” Pe says.
His other gimmi – er, marketing strategy – was to write about 12 famous couples, like panda pair Chuang Chuang and Lin Hui and also himself, although he never mentions the name of his own sweetheart.
Invited to compare his solo efforts with Slur’s output, Pe says he felt no pressure while recording. “I only feel the challenge to reach out to my fans. I just try to communicate with them and make my work more accessible in term of music and lyrics.”

Block heads

Thailand’s real-life South Korean soap opera continues with fans of much-disparaged boy band Block B declaring war on Nichkhun “Khun” Horvejkul, the Thai member of rival Korean outfit 2PM.
Khun was among the Thais doing the disparaging after Block B misbehaved in a videotaped interview following their recent show in Bangkok.
One Block B fan chose an odd target – Khun’s TV commercial that used the Japanese flag as the backdrop – but the criticism was credited by mistake to the head of Brandnew Stardom, the firm that promotes Block B. That generated more fireworks back and forth.
Khun tweeted, “If you don't know exactly what I’m trying to say, you should just keep quiet. I don’t hold anything against those boys.”
In our next episode, meet the Japanese fans also boycotting Block B because one of the members made a tasteless crack about last year’s tsunami.
