Some 4,000 music fans turned out for last Saturday’s “Sea Mix on the Beach” dancing and jumping up and down on the beach belonging to Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Pattaya to lively sets by Christina “Tina” Aguilar, rapper Jetrin “J” Wattanasin and Joey Boy’s Gancore Boy.
The night was lit by stars and a crescent moon and the stage glowed in the bright rays of the spotlights.
Tina the “dancing queen” emerged on stage clad in a glittering and sexy costume to perform “Ninja”, “Jing Mai Klua”, “Pai Duay Kan Na” and “Prawatsart”, tracks dating back to her first three albums: 1990’s “Ninja”, 1992’s “Arwut Lub” and 1994’s “Red Beat” in 1994.
Screams greeted J Jetrin’s arrival on stage to share the mic with Tina on his song “Kor Khrai Man Ja Pai Roo La” and a cover of superstar Thongchai “Bird” McIntyre’s “Ma Tham Mai”. The rap heartthrob then stood alone, keeping fans on their feet with tunes from his albums “J E Bor”, “108-1009”, “Choola Choola” and “Seventh Heaven”. He surprised the audience by singing a cover of Carabao’s “Bua Loy” only to forget some of the lyrics.
Tina came back and kept the lively ambience going with a second dance set that included “Plick Lock”, “Mai Yak Rok”, “Lerk Hoe” and “Phood Aik Thi”, a massive hit from her fourth album, 1997’s “Golden Eyes”, then joined with J for “All I Wanna Do.” She also covered Thai-Vietnamese singer Sheranut “Namcha” Yusanonda’s “Rak Thae Yang Ngai”.
Tina and J allowed fans a chance to chill as they performed a set of ballads before being joined by Joey Boy for a cover of Bird’s new hit “Too Much So Much Very Much”.
Waving farewell, Tina and J handed over the stage to Joey Boy, who went into a non-stop medley of “Pak Takrai”, “Serakapoi”, and “I-Ba, I-Be, I-Bo,I-Bay” along with his group featuring Buddha Bless and Sing Nuea Suea Tai.
The set closed out with Joey Boy passing on responsibility for the evening’s entertainment to a DJ for some hot dance mix grooves.
Now it was really time to dance.
