Biggest threat to the US is its own politicians

Isn't it amazing how history not only repeats itself, but is full of irony?

This is especially so in regard to US Middle East policy. For example, there is currently a great hue and cry over the innocent lives being snuffed out with artillery shells by the Syrian government in Homs (a rebel city). However, in October of 1973, the Israeli air force deliberately dropped bombs on Syrian civilians in the same town. Naturally, there was no protest for that atrocity coming out of Washington DC.
In 1960, a CIA report concluded that Dimona, a place where Israel was developing nuclear energy, was also developing nuclear weapons. The Israeli prime minister at that time, Ben-Gurion, insisted that Dimona was a place “designed exclusively for peaceful purposes” and that any allegation Israel was making an atomic bomb was a “deliberate or unwitting untruth”. Ben-Gurion was lying, of course; now Israel is known to have at least 200 nuclear warheads.
In 1968, President Johnson, ruing Israel’s new atomic weapons stated: “Israel’s failure to sign the NPT [Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty of 1968] would be a severe blow to my government’s global efforts to halt the spread of nuclear weapons.” Israel never signed the treaty. Sadly, no American president since then has ever put any serious pressure on Israel to give up its nukes. The result, as Johnson knew, was predictable: One nation (Iran) may now be trying to even the WMD (weapons of mass destruction) field in that part of the world.
The Americans, by constantly mollifying Israel, keep inducing ever-increasing instability into the Middle East. (By the way, if history is any guide, the Israelis will indeed attack Iran, which will eventually result in even greater loss of national treasure and lives for America, as Muslims make no distinction between Israel and America, nor should they.)
If the American people do not immediately force their politicians to put their interests – rather than Israel’s – first, then the United States could soon be so bankrupt that there will be anarchy and rioting all over the country. In other words, it will be the end of the United States as we know it.
