Six years into its mission to balance bodies and minds and make skin glisten, the Zense of Joy Spa opened its fourth branch last Tuesday at Major Cineplex Pinklao.
And owner Varaluk “Joy” Vanichkul has set a fresh goal, reaching beyond the spa’s five “zenses” – intake, health, mind, beauty and look – to the level of skin cells.
The former professional model is dedicated to the holistic approach when it comes to care of the body and mind. “The outcome is very different and more effective if you tackle everything together, whether you go for exercise, medicine or beauty treatments,” she says.
Varuluk has never stopped developing the spa’s quality in terms of the products used, the service and new technology. “Our spa isn’t big, but we have an international clientele, so I sometimes attend seminars about spa innovations around the world. In the United States, for example, they pay a lot of attention to natural ingredients like herbs.
“And I love going to different spas, so I’ve experienced various treatments, and I select the best ones for my place.”
Zense of Joy Spa recently added a pair of treatments that utilise mushrooms, White Truffle and Ling Zhi, and at the new outlet’s opening two more were introduced involving stem cells extracted from brown algae and green apples.
“Miracle Lifting and Whitening with White Truffle”, the new fungi facial, offers skin “repair and re-texturing” via a serum containing the truffle extract obtained from the French skincare firm Biologie Pierre Boutigny.
The face is gently cleansed with milk and then a peeling cream is applied to remove waste and abnormal pigmentation, such as dark spots. The therapist applies the vigorous Zense of Joy lifting technique, which gets you glowing by goosing the metabolism and intake of oxygen.
Finally the skin is relaxed and smoothed with a collagen mask that contains biological whitening ingredients.
“Ling Zhi Body Rejuvenation” includes a body scrub with the Chinese mushroom and a body mask of ling zhi powder mixed with honey – it’s packed with anti-oxidants to slow ageing.
While your body is being wrapped you get a head massage, and then lava stones are placed on your tummy to aid with the digestive, excretory and immune systems as well as blood circulation.
And you finish with a coating of fungi body lotion to moisturise and nourish the skin and a cup of hot ling zhi tea.
“Premium Stem Cell Youth Recovering Treatment” for the face and “GBSF Stem Cell Firming and Tone Up” for the whole body delve into an area of science that Varuluk admits are still little known in Thailand.
“But overseas this is really the talk of the town,” she says. “Woman ought to begin taking care of their skin as early as possible, and plant stem-cell extracts truly revive the skin.”
The Zense of Joy branch at the Esplanade has 14 treatment rooms that are decorated differently for different moods.
