Chonprakan aims to restore their morale and at the same time commemorate the centenary of the birth of his father, Kumut Janruang, with a show on Thursday afternoon called “Pen-U-Kue Withee Put Withee Komut Withee Moradok Mai”.
It starts at 2pm in the auditorium of Tipco headquarters on Rama VI Road and will feature an exhibition and music as well as the play based on the life of Kumut, who wrote the 1940 English-language memoir “My Boyhood in Siam”. Kumut was the first Thai student to attend the University of California.
The whole production is free to see. As it says on the promotional material, “Theatre is a gift, not for sale.”
Mayura mobile?
Repeated denials haven’t slowed down a rumour that Mayura Savetsila has quit co-hosting the game show “Ching Roi, Ching Larn”, which recently moved to Channel 3 – or at that least she will soon. The gossips say she’s got some sort of health problem.
Panya Nirankul, who owns the show and co-hosts with Mayura, insists she’s not going anywhere.
What happened was that Mayura missed an episode and actress Pornchita “Benz” Na Songkhla – one of the judges on “Thailand’s Got Talent” – stepped in as substitute host.
So you can see why people say Benz has now permanently replaced Mayura. You can’t? Neither can we.
Benz said she’d love the job but it’s beyond her and simply not available. “I don’t think I could take that place, standing beside Panya and doing that job. And anyway, I don’t think they want to change the female host. If they did, it would be better to change the whole format.”
Panya was downright ticked off about the rumour. “Can you just not make such a big deal out of this?” he steamed. “Just end it, because there’s nothing to it!”
