It's all summer's fault

But top Thai fashion houses are willing to share the 'Blame'

The Mall Group offered a sunny preview of summer last week – 160 outfits arranged by Playhound creative designer Jitsing Somboon and fashion forecaster Wannaporn Posayanont.
“Blame It on Summer: 80 Fashion Looks, 80 Summer Incidents” featured creations from top Thai clothing brands, including Curated by Ek Thongprasert, Wrkroom, Croquis, Pronto, Paul & Joe Sister, Markus Lupfer and Disaya.
Jitsing and Wannaporn also borrowed from the Digital Style Guide and BlameItOnSummer.com to put on a show of “realistic fashion”.
“Every piece is wearable,” Jitsing pointed out while his men’s clothing was displayed. “We just put them together and rearrange them in interesting and edgy, yet tangible ways, using my styling skills rather than any surrealistic production.”
Jitsing’s summer will be in grades of white and shades of brown, especially dark brown on leather shoes and ankle boots that will be matched with functional items built of patchwork and zippers. His gear will look great topped with classic Aviator or Wayfarer sunglasses.
He’s got five key looks for guys for the coming season.
“Formal” combines fancy attire with fashionable taste, the posh offset by cool and modern, with bow ties or kerchiefs rather than neckties, navy blazers over grey shirts and white trousers.
“Smart Casual” mingles the explorer look with workwear, with lots of white, navy and khaki in oversized sweaters and stylish hats.
“Laid Back” is light and flexible for the beach – hooded jackets, sweater shirts, baseball shirts and Hawaiian shirts paired with “bikini swimming trousers”.
“Denim” paints the material on clothes and accessories for various occasions, especially in darker masculine hues. Wear all denim with leather boots, or a denim jacket with a plaid shirt or Vneck Tshirt.
“Trendy” is fun and charming, a single tone – white, grey or black – adorning classy vests and longsleeve shirts, playfully accessorised with shoes and wristwatches to spice up summer.
Wannaporn will be dressing the “modern woman” with careful attention to the minute details. Your clothes, she said, ought to “encourage you to get up and experiment with the styling”.
She’s incorporated several men’s accoutrements – tailored suits, bow ties and thin neckties – while staying neutral in colour but using plenty of prints. There are three main looks.
“Posh” is glamorous and sensuous, the look to which most women aspire. Long, strapless evening dresses with sexy details, cool miniskirts, “statement accessories” like jewellery earrings and diamond necklaces, and little clutches in your hand.
“Casual Chic” mixes high heels with tiny, geometricshape satchels and shorts with tank tops and includes striped and printed bikinis with bangles.
“Savvy” is sassy fun in masculine jumpsuits paired with oddshaped hats and sunglasses and minidresses with Mule shoes.
