Young baker Navanath Sriyuksiri offers a range of these delicious small bites at her Siam Paragon outlet

A popular hangout with the younger set, Cupcake Made by Jelly Jan at Siam Paragon, offers an eye-catching selection of cupcakes that go well with a cup of aromatic coffee. The shop is owned by young baker Navanath “Jan” Sriyuksiri, author of the best-selling recipe book “Cupcake by Jelly Jan”.

Born into a family of restaurateurs, Navanath has been fond of cooking since she was a child and also attended a patisserie and cuisine course at Le Cordon Bleu school in London. Back in Bangkok, she started off by making a wide range of pastries to well through her website and quickly built up a thriving online business.

Wanting to expand her target group, she opened a small cafe in Siam Paragon and today offers a wide range of cupcakes and beverages in a homey and cosy ambience. The cafe is furnished with earth-toned sofas and wooden tables and can seat 30 comfortable with customers choosing their sweet treats from a big glass showcase.

“My cupcakes look simple but they taste great,” says Navanath. “I usually create a monthly special, which right now is a Mango Mango cupcake that’s mixed with sticky rice and topped with mango cream.”

Popular orders with regulars are sweet Thai tea, soft vanilla strawberry and salted caramel & macadamia (Bt80 and Bt85). Other flavours include red velvet, chocolate, Koala’s March, banana chocolate, mint cookie & cream and lemon & lemon curd. Prices range from Bt80 to Bt85 apiece.

She also offers warm chocolate banana caramel or apple crumble served with vanilla ice cream Bt150. If you prefer a refreshing kick, you can opt for iced strawberry latte (Bt120) or a hot macha latte for Bt100. Otherwise, you have a choice of espresso, Americano, cappuccino, mocha, caramel macchiato and chocolate ranging from Bt70 to Bt140.
