Revisions to the Constitution require, of course, committees to revise the Constitution, from which grow sub-committees regarding constitutional revision. But sub-committees require consulting bodies to report to them, and consulting bodies invite the public to critique them. The official criticisms then get sent to the sub-committees, then to the committee to revise the Constitution, and finally there’s wordy provisional constitution No. 38 (or whatever number we’re up to now) which, of course, requires a constitutional convention at Hua Hin for five months.
Wouldn’t it be splendid for Thailand after all of the above reactionary twaddle if the next constitution consisted entirely of “One Thai, one vote”.
