Kerd awards born to raise trouble

The eight winners of TV host Woody Milintajinda's inaugural Kerd Awards drew a mixed reaction on the social media.

They were chosen by popular vote, but the public never agrees with itself.
Sudarat “Tukky” Butrprom being named Thailand’s best comedian drew sneers in particular because a lot of folks figured Charoenporn “Kohtee” Onlamai deserved the Kerd Ma Ha (Born to Make People Laugh) award instead.
The Kerd Ma Hai (Born to Give) honours went to TV news host Sorrayuth Suthassanachinda, whom the majority felt did more for flood victims last year than co-nominees Colonel Wanchana Sawasdee and acting twins Bin and Ekkapan Bunluerit. The minority griped that the winner was helping his TV show more than anything.
Sorrayuth must have been wincing more when people started alleging that his personal production company, Rai Som, had cheated Modernine. Maybe he’ll soon receive another award: Kerd Ma Pen Kow (Born to Be a Newsmaker).

Born absent
Woody was meanwhile wincing at the shortage of celebrity awardees on his show for the big announcement last Friday. Not everyone could attend, including actress Pornchita “Benz” Na Songkhla, who was Kerd Dai Jai (Born to Win Audience Hearts) – and Tukky too. But at least Tukky’s boyfriend showed up and said how much he loves her.
It would have been fun to see nominee Udom “Nose” Taepanich, but he was in Japan. Chermarn “Ploy” Boonyasak was nominated with her ex-boyfriend Pakorn “Dome” Lam for the Ku Kerd (Born to be a Pair) award. Dome was there, but she wasn’t, igniting a delicious flare of gossip about the reason why.
Ploy explained later that she had to work that day, but she admitted that Woody’s staff upset her when they called late and demanded that she attend. She was grateful about being nominated, though.
“I’m okay with Phi Woody, but I have to tell him that his staff showed no manners when they were dealing with me.” Some people were just born to infuriate stars.
