More bad news from Gen Sonthi

In the interest of national reconciliation, actress Panward "Peuy" Hemmanee will no longer be seen in sexy outfits, including swimwear.

We’re kidding Peuy, but here’s the deal: Her boyfriend Nithi, who she calls “Pop”, happens to be Muslim and have a rather important pop, as in father.
Dad is General Sonthi Boonyaratglin, the guy who changed all the locks on the country’s doors while Thaksin Shinawatra was overseas and now, as chairman of the House committee on national reconciliation, thinks maybe Thaksin ought to be let back in again.
But it’s respect for the family’s devotion to Islam that has convinced Peuy she should show a little less skin. She and Pop have been seeing each other for almost eight months, “and, yes, he has proposed”, she says. It’ll be up to Sonthi to reconcile with having a celebrity in the family.

Suthikiat Chirathivat is beaming with pride now that his son Thirayut has succeeded him as chief executive of Centara Hotels and Resorts, a job for which he’s long been groomed.
Thirayuth got a master’s degree in food, hotel and tourism management in the US and began his career 22 years ago at what is now the Centara Grand, handling the food and beverages. Thanks to tough training from the old man, he worked his way up to a senior vice presidency.
The staff will tell you that father and son are almost equal in terms of management skills, but Thirayut evidently has the edge when it comes to electronic gadgets. It was him who trained his dad how to keep tabs on all 56 Centara properties via mobile phone.
At first Suthikiat couldn’t figure out why all the data about occupancy and other stuff wasn’t coming in. “You’ve got to tell the IT department first to set up the program on your phone!” the boy told him. Old people, huh? Well, at least Suthikiat will have his 10 grandchildren to help him through semi-retirement.
