Red-shirt villages are a cause of division

Foreign Minister Surapong Towichukchaikul seems to think that reconciliation in Thailand is all about Thaksin and nothing else.

He says if we reconcile, all our conflicts will be over and Thaksin will be able to return. May I suggest that another essential factor in the process is the disbandment of the red-shirt movement and cessation of its attempt to establish red-shirt zones, regions or villages all over Thailand. This organisation is simply causing more division and strife with its constant calls for the establishment of “true democracy” in Thailand when it is already part of the democratically elected government. One can only surmise that what the red shirts really want is autocracy not democracy.
