The Lady will learn some hard lessons

The reason the Myanmar opposition National League for Democracy is boycotting the [parliamentary swearing in] oath is twofold.

First, the Win Tin faction believes it was a mistake even to participate in the by-elections. However, Aung San Suu Kyi’s position as an idol is so strong that he had to go along. More pertinent to the present day, the boycott is the first step in the negotiation to amend the constitution, a step the regime countered by appointing a batch of senior officers to parliament, and who will never allow any changes. Suu Kyi made a terrible mistake thinking that the regime would ever agree to a reduction in its power, and the end of its constitutionally sanctioned immunity. I think she is finally beginning to understand this.
