While the Democrats note that in 1983 Romney drove his station wagon for 12 hours with his dog strapped to the roof, the Republicans note that Obama as a boy ate dog meat.
As governor of Massachusetts, Romney was accused of doing nothing to support a ban on dog racing despite the fact that many of those dogs were suffering from injuries.
Not to be outdone, Obama broke his promise to animal rights activists to get a dog from a shelter and instead bought a dog from a breeder right after the 2008 election. No wonder that when I asked a dog the other day which candidate he preferred, he growled at me!
A friend of mine who works for a major animal rights organisation in America says that while the Democrats tend to be better on animal welfare legislation, they’re big spenders and may give more money to animal abusers such as factory farmers. So it gets confusing deciding who is the lesser of the two evils. But since there are enough animal rights activists in America to determine the outcome of an election, we need to send a message to the candidates that if they want our support on election day, they’d better start giving the animals their support now.
Doggone it, we’re tired of being taken for granted!
