Sure enough, it appeared right in front of hundreds of villagers, who kneeled down and pressed their palms together in wai position. But all I could see in the video clip was a natural phenomenon called a “standing wave”, a wave that remains in a stationary position, which one can sometimes spot on the surface of a lake, river or sea. The shaman claimed that it was a naga, thus creating Pareidolia, a psychological phenomenon like that of seeing images of animals or faces in clouds or a rabbit on the moon.
This event is similar to the Democrats’ drumming up on a hike in food prices. Of course, prices of seasonal produce go up and down according to climate and season. However, the Democrats drum up only on certain prices that go up, and its supporters fall for it, just like the villagers fall for the naga. To the villagers, the naga makes more sense than the standing wave, which requires knowledge of physics. To the Democrats, bashing the government makes more sense than trying to understand the law of demand and supply, which requires knowledge of economics.
