Burgundy makes you think of silly things, Bordeaux makes you talk about them and Champagne makes you do them. That was the concept at a recent wine tasting featuring star samples from these regions organised by Fabulous is Needed (Fin), the boutique wine importer.
Fin’s Benchawan Wisootsat and Jan Ganser supplied 40 wines, including Champagne, famous sauternes and award-winning Thai wines from GranMonte in Khao Yai. The event was designed to highlight Fin’s new and extensive wine collection, which is steeped in diversity and style. The ones from the Gonet-Medeville family attracted a lot of attention.
Owning vineyards in Champagne, Bordeaux and Burgundy, the family is based in the heart of the Sauternes region, producing top-quality Champagne and other wines. Julie Gonet-Médeville and her husband Xavier were at the tasting to discuss their family tradition.
After taking over her family’s properties, including Gilette, the more traditional Sauterne Les Justices and Respide-Médeville, which produces red and white Graves, Julie and Xavier established Champagne Gonet-Médeville.
Among the 40 wines from France, four came from GranMonte – 2011 Spring Chenin Blanc, 2011 Sakuna Syrah Rosé, 2010 Heritage Syrah and 2009 The Orient Syrah.
