Bigoted viewpoint out of date

I agree that gay-pride marches do little to change the attitudes of homophobes like John Sheppard [Not to be confused with John Shepherd. Editor.]

He decries “public exhibitions” of gay people, but I doubt he feels the same way about heterosexuals who hold hands or kiss in public, casually refer to a spouse in conversation, or keep family photos on their office desks for all to see.
He reminds me of white folks from decades ago who complained about “uppity blacks” as those people of colour began to assert their demands for equal treatment and to tell their community that they should feel the pride and right to do so.
People carrying the bigoted attitudes of Mr Sheppard have no reason to feel “proud”, whether heterosexual or otherwise.
