The dismissal of president of Thai Airways International Piyasvasti Amranand by the company’s board of directors was not only inappropriate – but also bad for business and the country.
Piyasvasti, despite having been put on the job at THAI by the Democrat-led government,
has done so much in turning the company around in a very short time. Conversely, THAI’s board consists of doubtful people who seem to act at the whim of politicians rather than for the good of the country.
This is the second time that Thais have received two pieces of shocking news within a month. Earlier, Bank of Thailand’s board of directors resolved to replace widely respected MR Chatumonkol Sonakul with a politically connected economist, Virabongsa Ramangura, as its chairman.
Question: Is good governance becoming a rarity in our society?
