3K Battery to help power domestic game

After partnering with English Premier League greats Liverpool, 3K Battery has now turned its focus closer to home, supporting three Thai outfits including Khonkaen FC with an initial budget of Bt10 million.

The three-year Bt300-million deal with the Merseyside club boosted the firm’s international profile, but 3K Battery has shown it has no intention of ignoring the domestic game.
The company says the partnership contracts with Khonkaen, currently playing in the country’s second-tier division following relegation last season, and the third-tier clubs Kalasin FC and Samutprakarn FC illustrate its unwavering commitment to Thai football.
“As a Thai company, we’re proud to be a partner with such a global club as Liverpool. That doesn’t mean we will overlook Thai football though. We know that without support from Thai people, we would not have come this far.
“Previously, we supported ‘big’ teams like BEC Tero Sasana and Khonkaen. But after going international to support Liverpool, I think we should now get behind Thai clubs from the grass-roots level,” said Weerawat Kohpaiboon, 3K Battery senior vice president.
“We want to extend support to other teams around the country. By doing that, we will help develop the country’s football as a whole.
“We selected these three sides without looking at whether they were big or not. We just wanted to support teams with decent fan-base, sound management and the desire to succeed.
“Apart from financial support for the clubs, we will be holding activities for their fans.
We’re considering extending our support to at least one team from each of the country’s five regions,” said Weerawat.
