Another misguided input from Somsak Pola. Thaksin Shinawatra was found guilty of enrichment by the Constitution Court because he held shares in Shin Corp whilst in office. In the course of the trial, members of the Shinawatra family or lawyers on their behalf allegedly lied (committed perjury) on his behalf. No charges brought to date but guilty nevertheless.
Further, his government changed the rules on payments to the government in favour of the party. His government temporarily opened the window to allow a Singaporean company to buy shares in the company. This reduced his company’s financial commitment and boosted his shares.
These are not “allegations” but crimes revealed during a trial. Some charges have been laid but none followed up.
Also, I was accused of comparing Thaksin and Al Capone. Sorry Al. You were a low-down crook. He was placed into public office to care for the nation. He abused that position for his own aggrandisement and private gain.
Were the people kept in the wat? Ask the French reporter. She was assaulted trying to help someone to leave.
Weep for Thailand, Mr Chiaracharuwat.
