It was all quite a flashback for Pintuorn.
She’d been on the red carpet at the film festival there 21 years before, soon after she married Jake, then a successful movie producer. It necessitated some last-minute shopping, she tells Hello! magazine. “I just hopped into the Chanel boutique near our hotel.”
That was all Pintuorn had to worry about, though. On the latest trip she had work to do helping set up the financial deal. “The first time I didn’t know a thing!” Well, she did recognise a “familiar” face – it turned out to be John Travolta.
This year’s familiar face belonged to James Gandolfini, best known as the boss in “The Sopranos”, from which he knows the Needhams well. They talked shop. Jake mostly listened. “He’s a writer and doesn’t talk much, preferring to just observe other people instead. I don’t know what he saw at Cannes this year, but I’m positive he must have seen something for his next novel!”
Cupcake curse
TV news host Kanok Ratwongkul is well known as a major fan of German football – has been since 1977 – and for Euro 2012 he’s updated his online profile photo, showing him in the German national team’s cap and scarf.
“I watched everything I could find on TV and got hooked on a series about German football that used to air every Monday night on Channel 9,” he said on Mango TV’s “Mango Bango” show. He was clutching that scarf again.
Kanok also posted a photo of him holding cupcakes decorated with the Dutch and German flags, a gift from a fan. “I ate all the Dutch ones – that’s why Germany defeated Holland last night!” he said online yesterday.
Presumably he’s hanging onto the German cupcakes for the party when germany are crowned Euro 2012 champions.
