As the parent of a child attending a Bangkok university I find it very depressing to be told the reason they get home at 10pm every night is that they are expected to be involved in "king and queen" activities to decide the most handsome and beautiful new
Has this got anything to do with education? Such an inordinate amount of time is wasted on these shallow activities which laud the value of vanity over and above what a university is meant to bestow – knowledge and learning. How much hot air is being released by politicians and academics alike on the subject of improving the standards of Thai education whilst this farcical routine of rituals and demeaning hazing activities goes on for months, taking precedence over time potentially spent in the library or actually attending lectures and tutorials? Wise up Thailand.
