It seems the time has come for the Pheu Thai party to choose to proceed with its charter amendment proposal – or to stop.
If the party goes on with the amendment, the end result might be the collapse of the Yingluck government itself.
But if it stops, it risks irking the red shirts and disunity might appear between factions within the party.
Hence, it shows how wrong it was for Pheu Thai to put forward constitutional change in its election campaign in 2011 – on top of a good performance in government and in Parliament.
A constitutional amendment, no matter how minor, is too big for any political party to promise to carry out – unless proper consultation with the majority of the people in society is made – for it will affect the whole population and their future.
