Dignified in defeat

I praise Kaew Pongprayoon for his demeanour after losing to the Chinese boxer in the controversial Olympic boxing match.

He got up on the podium, accepting the silver medal, holding the medal up  and posing for the cameras as if the match was decided fairly and squarely. I have seen enough Olympians whining and refusing to accept medals after controversial matches in which they were robbed or felt they were robbed. The way Kaew conducted himself, he is the real winner, and we should be proud of him. Kaew teaches us that life isn’t always fair. Sometimes bad things happen to good people, but you take it in stride like he did and get on with your life.
