Ineptitude no barrier to taking power

The US Republican Party has all but sealed the nomination of its candidate to oppose Barack Obama in the November elections.

I find it somewhat amazing that, out of a population topping 250 million, a political party can still select a candidate who is only outstanding in his terms of ineptitude or governance of any sort of office. Mitt Romney at best can only be described as a sedated intellectual soul mate of George W Bush. This is deeply worrying, because history has shown that ineptitude doesn’t necessarily rule out the chances of getting into the Oval Office.
