Standing up with Shane

Talk show guru Jatupol Chompunich returns to the stage

Veteran comedian and managing director of Comedy Line Ped Chernyim is bringing the much-loved talk show guru Jatupol Chompunich aka Ajarn Shane back to the Bangkok stage next month, with back-to-back shows of  “Shane Come Back and Talk 10” scheduled for Thunder Dome, Muang Thong Thani. The title, he says, is inspired by the 1953 Western “Shane … Come Back!”
“I would like it to be like the comeback of Ajarn Shane,” said the Trang-born comedian, whose real name is Tanya Phovijit, during the recent press conference at Terminal 21.
“It’s a kind of a variety talk with a 4D plus 1 concept,” Ped added, with singing, dancing, joking and a magic show by world-class magician Narit Pakdeepoobest. Also taking part in the talk show by Ajarn Shane are Maneenuch Samerasut and Bamror Pongintara-kul, aka Note Chernyim, from Channel 3’s “At Ten”. Other contributing comedians are Somjai Sukjai aka Der Doksadao, Siriporn “Tak” Yooyod, Kuensit “Pui” Suwanwatha-kee, and Tansita “Chompoo” Suwatcharatanakit. Pakin “Tono” Khamwilaisak from The Star round out the cast.
“I’m coming back to the stage again after Thai Talk 6 a few years ago,” Ajarn Shane said. “We’re aiming to give the audience different viewpoints in line with our concept ‘Thailand Stand Up’. It’s time that Thai people stood up and stopped quarrelling. I’ve also written a song.”
