The old airport, Hong Qiao, was closed and a super new airport built far from the city. Soon this was full and the old airport was resurrected, first for freight, then for low-cost airlines and finally it became a full-service airport for domestic and short-haul international flights. Then they thoughtfully made Hong Qiao a transport hub. Not one but two subway lines serve the airport. The high-speed train station is next door and a city bus terminal is incorporated into the complex. At the very least the planners should consider extending the subway line to Don Mueang to allow easy access to the city.
