Gates' passing might require more room in cyber-heaven

Re: "The stairway to heaven is all booked up," Opinion, September 1.

Veena Thoopkrajae’s amusing meditation on Steve Jobs’ promotion to the rank of angel by the Dhammakaya temple provides a rich field for theological speculation.  If Jobs Deva is now a mid-level angel living in a six-storey building, presumably in some distant cyberheaven (the Cyberloka?), we can reasonably assume that he will one day be joined by an even higher-level angel named Gates Deva, and the building will have to be raised to eight storeys.  Future celestial events will no doubt feature Branson Deva and Gaga Devi.  Sharapova Devi, too, will be a welcome addition to the heavenly host. The abundance of empirical evidence supporting such speculations is also worthy of note.  Gee, I could get a column out of this if I were still writing columns.
