Cartoonist is on the mark

Re: "Cartoonist spreads Western propaganda", Letters, September 6.

I must take issue with Mr Turk concerning his letter about cartoonist Stephff. Mr Turk may be right about the Daraya massacre, on which I have no information other than his, but I absolutely cannot agree that Stephff is not a good cartoonist – if that was Mr Turk’s intended opinion. Syria is a very sad tale and most people, including Syrians and the president of Egypt, would agree that a regime change there is long overdue.
As a regular and loyal reader of The Nation, and as someone who has lived in this country for a long time, I would say that The Nation can annoy one with its incessant stories of the wonderful work it is doing, and of course The Guardian articles, but it cannot be faulted for its news of local events and for employing an absolutely first-rate cartoonist in Stephff, by far the best cartoonist I have seen in English-language newspapers here over the years.
