Chip now clear of old block

Armed with a film-studies degree from Australia's Bond University, chalermchatri "Adam" Yukol has spent the past few years helping his director dad MC Chatrichalerm on many movie projects, the "King Naresuan" series in particular.

Young and energetic, he’s also produced TV series and runs his Fuk Duk TV station.
People have always asked Adam when he was going to direct a movie of his own. When he first graduated, at age 21, he pointed out that you can’t just walk into Somsak “Sia Jiang” techarattanaprasert’s office at Sahamongkol Film and ask for Bt10 million. And, anyway, what stars would want to appear in a rookie’s debut feature?
That was then. This is now. Adam has just announced he’s going to make a picture, tentatively titled “Tamruad Puen Hoad”, a Fuk Duk production-Sahamongkol collaboration.
Adam loves those 1980s action flicks, and his first movie will be about a police officer (played by Somchai “Tao” Kemklad) who’s a skilled investigator but also very brutal. He wants to recreate that old-style action appeal, although Tao is expecting that filmgoers will “see something different”.
“I trust Adam because of his determination and I trust the whole cast too,” says Tao. Adam’s a bit humbler, saying he doesn’t want people to expect too much from his first outing.
You can track his progress on Twitter, where he’s already posted details about the locations he’s scouted and the production-launch ceremony, as well as photos of Tao.

Bargain time!
GMM Grammy’s Yutthana “Pa Ted” Boonorm has a cool idea to combat illegal CD sales. A mere Bt100 will buy you dozens of GMM discs at the Grammy Wonderland event at Impact in Muang Thong Thani from October 4 to 7.
Pa Ted calls his discount shop Ou Pai Leoy (Here They Are). You pay Bt100 for a bag, and then fill it with CDs old and new – all you want as long as the bag doesn’t burst.
That’s one way of clearing out the old inventory!
