Is the Thai Public Health Ministry subservient to the American bio-tech giants, ahead of concern for public health? The only excuse we’ve heard is that GMO labelling would increase costs. That is not acceptable.
In April 2001, then Public Health Minister Sudarat Keyuraphan stated that Thailand would introduce GMO labelling within three months. So what is this labelling? Only genetically modified soy and corn needs to be labelled, and only when they are more than 5 per cent of that product, and only when those two are in the top three of the contents of the product. That’s not truthful labelling.
