Somsak Pola invited the world’s developing countries to send their military chiefs to learn how to effectively and bloodlessly stage a coup. But I think he has deliberately left out one other thing. How could Somsak mention the egg and leave out the chicken?
Thailand should be even prouder to have another best: its politicians.
During the past decade, Thailand has produced one of the world’s craftiest and wiliest groups of politicians, and we should be proud. Their credentials include having the ability to make billions of dollars disappear, in a jiffy, without anybody knowing whose pockets it ended up in.
Here’s the cream of it: despite the above ability, they can talk endlessly on the subjects of ethics, altruism and sacrifice – so well that they can command people’s respect in return.
In short, they are capable of making you thank them for bilking you!
