Ahmadinejad's brutal treatment of his people should not be forgotten

Richard Bowler tells us that Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad complains about the West for "trampling on the rights of others" and that perhaps Ahmadinejad does speak for the legitimate aspirations of the Iranian people.

Perhaps Mr Bowler might care to recall the Green Revolution in which the Iranian regime brutally turned its guns on its own people and in which torture and rape of women prisoners was routine. It was reported that hospitals were not allowed to register the dead bodies or those shot by the regime.
This is what a medical student at Rasoul-Akram hospital witnessed on the night of June 15, 2009: “Nine people died at our hospital and another 28 had gunshot wounds ... [the government] removed the dead bodies on back of trucks, before we were even able to get their names or other information ... No one was allowed to speak to the wounded or get any information from them.”
“Legitimate aspirations of the Iranian people”? Mr Bowler seems to have a very short memory indeed.
