There he goes again, completely distorting what I wrote (“Meatless Mondays, the answer to every vegan’s prayer”, Letters, October 8). I didn’t say, as Horst Bullinger claims, that it’s disgraceful for the dairy industry to tell people to drink milk – although milk is bad for us. What I said is that it’s disgraceful that, when I was there, “nutrition month” in the Philippines consisted of nothing more than telling people to drink milk. During that entire month of the “nutrition” campaign I neither saw nor read a single word about fruit or vegetables or anything else that didn’t promote the dairy industry. And that’s what was disgraceful.
Since it’s obvious that Bullinger is way out of his element when he debates me about vegetarianism, I think he’s the one who should stick to writing about politics and leave the discussion about nutrition to people who know what they’re talking about.
Still, at least he no longer publicly calls me a sissy, which, I suppose, is progress. But have readers noticed that in all these years he has never been able to disprove a single point that I have made, which is that the meat industry harms the environment, human health and the animals?
