Big turnout expected for city marathon

The Bangkok Marathon will be run on Sunday November 18 on Sanam Chai Road, with HM the King's trophy and prize money of Bt3 million awaiting the winners.

The 25th edition of the event, sponsored by Standard Chartered, will start at 3am and finish at 9am near the Royal Grand Palace. “The race serves His Majesty the King’s objective of encouraging the public to exercise. The event is also expected to attract many foreigners and will boost local tourism as well,” said General Manus Klaimanee, president of the National Jogging Association of Thailand.
“Standard Chartered has supported Bangkok Marathon for eight consecutive years. We will continue our support and hope to make it successful like it has always been,” said Standard Chartered president and CEO Lyn Kok.
Up for grabs alongside the glittering King’s trophy are special awards for record times for the marathon, half-marathon. Blazers will go to leading runners in the marathon, while medals and souvenir T-shirts will be given to those who cover the full marathon distance within six hours.
