Thailand advance into the last 16

Thailand's futsal team scrapped into the knockout phase of the Futsal World Cup for the first time having clinched the berth as one of the best thirdplaced teams in the 24-team tournament.
The hosts had unfancied Solomon Islands to thank for helping them qualify for the last16 round after the Oceania team managed to defy the odds by recording an upset 4-3 win over Guatemala after losing their opening two matches.
The result ensured the Thais, who suffered premature exits in their previous three campaigns in the Cup finals, clinched the ticket as one of the best four thirdplaced teams. They, though, are likely to face twotime champions Spain in the last16 tie tomorrow.
