To all the Thaksin policy worshippers, most of his populist policies can be likened to the goose that laid the golden eggs. The goose has to be fed or it will die and stop laying the eggs.
Unfortunately with Thaksin and his party, they are using taxpayers’ money to feed the goose, and then they get all the gold. The fact that the goose might die doesn’t matter because they have calculated it will last long enough for them to enrich themselves far beyond anyone’s imagination and secure their families’ massive wealth for many, many generations. And anyway, if they stay in power using taxpayers’ money to pay off the non-taxpayers’ votes, then they can always find another golden goose just like the latest: the rice scam.
