'Going' has never been such fun
The apps on TrueMove H's GO Live S1 phone make it handy, practical and a barrel of laughs
GO Live S1 from TrueMove H is a highly affordable 3G smart phone with H applications that allow you to enjoy several online services from the 3G mobile phone operator.
The phone retails only for Bt2,990 and each comes with Bt1,200 worth of discounts for any call package. This means you pay only Bt1,790 for the phone. Moreover, you are not under any commitment to use the monthly package for several months.
The monthly package for S1 phone starts from Bt399 with unlimited Internet usage time and 150 minutes of talk time.
The S1 is made in China and imported by D Supreme Co Ltd. It has been selected by TrueMove H to promote its 850 MHz 3G service and applications.
The S1 is available in black and silver. It looks like most Android-based smart phones today with round corners and a quite large screen. It features a 3.5-inch TFT capacity touch screen with 320 x 480 pixel resolution. The screen is not as crisp as an AMOLED display but the text on web pages and other applications is readable.
It is powered by a 1 GHz processor and has 512 megabytes of RAM and uses a microSD card for storage and supports up to 32 GB with a microSD card. It runs on the Android 2.3 operating system and uses a HSDPA 7.2 Mbps 3G connection. It also comes with a 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi connection.
The test was conducted on a TrueMove H 3G 850 MHz connection. The S1 has quite good performance for this price. Its menus and touch screen were responsive and scrolling of screen and swiping was done smoothly. YouTube clips also played smoothly.
I managed to check and update my Facebook on the go smoothly on the 3G network. Foursquare check-in was done fast with no problem. Downloading and updating applications on the 3G network were also done fast and smoothly. Several apps were also downloaded, installed and updated fast on the 3G network.
Its 5 megapixel camera also took good quality photos for a mobile phone when light permitted it. Its voice audio quality was also good during the test.
The S1 is preinstalled with several H applications, which are grouped according to themes to suit the lifestyle of each user. There are five themes to select for the phone – H PLAY, H SHOPPING, H LEARN, H WORK, H GREEN.
TrueMove H has teenage actress Urassaya Sperbund, better known as Yaya, as S1 presenter so each theme comes with different photo of her as wallpaper.
And the most fun part involving the actress can be found in the H CAMERA app. It uses Yaya photos as exclusive frames to allow you to virtually pose for photos with her. For example, you can have a photo of Yaya hugging you or leaning against you.
Or you can pose with the heart-shaped “I love you” sign by raising one of your arms with Yaya.
You can also apply fun stickers and fun colour filters to each shot.
Each of the five themes highlights different H applications, although all of them can be accessed via the application menu.
For example, H PLAY highlights the H MUSIC, H MOVIE and H SPORT applications.
It is the theme for those who like to listen to music, watch movies and TV programmes on the go as well as monitoring sport news.
H SHOPPING is for those who like to shop online. It highlights the H SHOPPING, H GADGET, H DEAL, H MART applications.
H LEARN is very useful especially for students. Applications highlighted under this theme include H NEWS, H RADIO, and H LANGUAGE.
The H WORK theme will highlight applications that assist working people to monitor news on the go. The applications highlighted under this theme include H INVEST, H NEWS, H TV and TNN24.
The H GREEN theme provides applications that update you with news about the agricultural, economic and social sectors and you can also use applications under this theme to monitor weather forecasts. The applications highlighted here include H KASET, H SKYWATCH and H INVEST.
Before you can use each application, you must first register for True ID by using your email address. Then you need to use your True ID to use H applications.
For me, the most useful and interesting application is H TV.
You can use H TV to watch free-to-air TV programmes broadcast by True Visions. If you have a True Visions account, you can use your True Visions ID to watch several of True Visions programmes on the go.
Free TV programmes that you can watch without True Visions ID include Channel 3, 5, 7 Modernine, NBT, Thai PBS, TNN 24, ACTs Channel and BlueSky Channel. If you have a True Visions account, you can watch CNN, tvN, Cartoon Network, National Geographic Channel, True Plookpanya, True Sports 1, True Sports 2, True Sports 3 and True Sports 5.
The H RADIO app is also useful. It lets you listen to Thai Internet radio stations, including Seed 97.5, Yes Radio, 98 Fat Radio, Met 107, Radio Love and Get 102.5.
The H LANGUAGE application is also very useful. It lets you watch online videos to practise speaking English, Thai, Korean and Japanese.
