Less beef, please

Why does The Nation allow Eric Bahrt to use its letters section to launch hateful attacks on anyone who is not vegan?

Look at his last letter of December 3, where he tells us about a cancer-beating success story using a vegan diet. Why couldn’t Eric just give us this good story without adding his hateful opinion that those of us who don’t subscribe to his diet habits are “gluttons” and “parasites”?
With that type of hate, Eric will not get most readers’ respect, as he claims, because most readers are not vegan and will be insulted to be called “gluttons” and “parasites”. Maybe if he wasn’t so hateful in his misguided attempts of spreading the word about the benefits of a vegan diet, then more people might take up on his sometimes-helpful messages. He is simply not doing his cause any good at all with this type of verbal attack on the majority of readers just because they are not vegan.
