About 20.9mm thick and weighing just 1.69 kgs, the Latitude 6430u has been tested to 14 MIL-STD-810G standards. It has a spill-resistant keyboard and protective LCD seal and its 128 GB Solid-state hard drive offers high levels of durability. Reinforced metal-plated hinges help ensure easy opening and closing.
The 6430u we tested was powered by Intel Core i5-3427U processor running at 1.8 GHz and has 8 GB of memory and runs on Windows 8 Pro 64-bit operating system.
The ultrabook generated web pages fast and most business and general applications ran quickly and smoothly. Its Intel HD Graphics 4000 was good for running casual games and we were more than happy with the way it played multimedia files as well as music and video files.
The Dell 6430u has an impressive start up time, taking just 11 seconds after the power button was pressed to show its start screen with app tiles ready to function. And it took only 5 seconds to shut down. Entering and exiting the sleep mode was instant.
The Latitude 6430u got impressive scores when measured with the internal benchmark tool of Windows 8.
On the scale of 1.0 to 9.9, Latitude 6430u got 7.0 points for its processor performance of calculations per second.
It got 7.5 points for its performance of memory operations per second and its score for disk data transfer was as high as 8.1.
Its 3D business and gaming graphics performance scored 6.5 points and it got 5.8 scores for the desktop graphics performance.
Latitude 6403u does not come with a touch-screen so you need to use its touch pad to move around and interact with App tiles of Windows 8. The back-lit keyboard makes it easy to type.
