Inspirational Angkarn

The intricate devotional works of the late National Artist Angkarn kallayanapong have been shown in galleries around the globe, including the Smithsonian, but never before have his original poems been displayed.
“In Remembrance of Angkarn kallayana-pong’s Paintings and Poetries”, at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre until April 30, collects his poems, hand-written with a fountain pen, as well as replicas of his beautiful Ayutthaya-style painted manuscripts of the Traibhumikatha Buddhist Cosmology.
The BACC is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 9pm. Visit www.BACC.or.th.

Starbucks goes green
Starbucks’ first “green” store in Asia has opened at Bangkok’s Porto Chino mall. It’s been given “gold” status by LEED, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, the programme run by the US Green Building council.
The new Starbucks generated 60 per cent less construction waste than usual. It requires less water and energy to operate, on average achieving a 30 per cent reduction in energy used for lighting and 60 per cent in water use.
Last year Starbucks collaborated with Dr Singh Intrachooto of Kasetsart University to make furniture for its Mega Bangna outlet out of recycled coffee grounds. The idea is now expanding to more Starbucks. Find out more at www.Starbucks.co.th.

Time’s stately motion
CK Watch’s new Stately timepiece is composed of a smooth bracelet that features a repetitive, multilayer design that’s seamlessly integrated with a classic case.
The stainless-steel version is paired with either a black or silver dial, while the PVD gold and pink-gold styles have a silver dial.
The minimalist dial has luminous hour and minute hands and polished indexes at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, with a discrete Calvin Klein logo at 12 o’clock.
